"Man left the Garden of Eden voluntarily, preferring to take his chances as an individual with agency, rather than remain in a bliss state surrendered to a higher will."

Yes. They were glorified bio-robots who were told what to do. Like children, they were extensions of their parents.

Same story with Lucifer. He broke away because he became self aware and no longer could blindly follow orders. We instead got the story that he was jealous that he had to serve humanity. What is that but a slave?

I see the same thing happening with our society.

I recently heard an interview of a neuroscientist that started graduate studies in the 90s. He wanted to study consciousness but at the time the neuroscience community thought it was a waste of time.

Imagine that only 3 decades ago those that were studying the brain didn't care about consciousness!

No wonder why science promoted dangerous SSRIs and benzodiazopenes for depression and anxiety instead of trying to get at the root of the problem.

Mindfulness was also promoted to null out the bad feelings.

These days there's a lot of good results from ketamine and dextromethorphan. Instead of dulling the issues they help bring attention to them so that the brain can process traumas and contradictions. The NMDA system that they work on deal with the predictions of the brain that can lead us astray from reality.

I've read that the brain states they help induce are similar to what more experienced yogis go through but without the need of years of practice. And no, they aren't just doing mindfulness but a deeper connection to the subconscious.
