Can human spirituality rewire itself, such that it can hold our future generations firm?
Or will we be driven hither and thither in blind obedience to market algorithms and screen addiction?
Is there a Techno-Christos, Techno-Logos being carried slowly up the hill to Golgotha?
Such thoughts assailed me this morning as I walked up to the Virgen del Cerro open-air church on the top of a hill outside Vicuña, Chile - the place with the clearest skies on earth. The way was marked by typical large stone carvings of the journey Christ took en route to crucifixion, each identified with a Roman numeral.
Yet, at the top, the statue of the Virgen was dwarfed by a vast imposing radio mast, which I actually found to be kind of cool.
I sat down on one of the pews to pray to the Techno-Messiah.
