The greatest help has been reference to the influence of the very early environment on the child, especially around the time of birth and soon after. By helping me focus on this period, of which I have no direct memory and little second-hand knowledge, I have been enabled to develop a much clearer understanding of how my parents' situation at that time might have influenced my development and that has helped me progress positive change.
