Can this be summed up along side other theories (e.g. Maslow, Wuxing and "Soul Wounds")? It looks as if the theory can be further solidified with better diagnostic/heuristic criteria.

Questions to consider:

1. Is "compensating oral" merely the merging type mimicing the aggressive/psychopathic type, similar to how those who move away from dependence to self-reliance often copies ideas from charismatic "self-help" salesmen?

2. If it does map on to Maslow's hierarchy, then is that indicative of how working class are being sold dreams by professional class peoples? Can we also extrapolate similarity of symptoms between masochist-endurer (like a craftsmen) and rigid industrious (like "aristocrats") regarding luxuries and fashion? https://archive.ph/OGKNT

3. Are the different variants of the Lowenian rigid archetype (and also Ogden's aggressive and rigid analogues) to how "self-actualization" has been deconstructed by Maslow's "revised" hierarchy as cognitive, aesthetic, and transcendent needs? https://archive.ph/K9tI4 https://archive.ph/NYJGN

Hypothesis relative to Maslow and social class most likely to have them (with relevant "sigma cinema"):

* Affective issues (skilled middle class) = Enduring/Burdened/Masochist = The "narrator" in Fight Club who is repressed and burnt out by the work environment, and endures pain in aggressive social gatherings and schemes of violent insurrection.

* Esteem issues (professional-managerial class) = Manipulative/Charming/Psychopathic = Patrick Bateman in American Psycho with his two-faced behavior between corporate maneuvering and progressive virtue signaling, and having desire to prey on the vulnerable.

* Cognitive issues ("lower upper" or "working rich") = Tough/Generous/Aggressive = Jordan Belford in Wolf of Wall Street with his one-up tactics for economic gains, while patronizing others through feigning charitability and generousness .

* Aesthetic issues (nouveau riche or "the 1%") = Industrious/Overfocused/Hysterical-Passive = Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood who is ruthless in dominating his industry to the point of neglecting the needs of close relatives and emotionally detaching from industrial hazards.

* Actualization and Transcendent issues (inherited "aristocrats") = Expressive/Clinging/Phallic = The Batman (2022)...

Compensating Orals typically live in an environment where they are constantly "needed."

A secondary question: why are there so many variations for the rigid and psychopathic type in different systems?

I think psychologists, in those days, just loved categorising people! I don't think the word psychopath is much use in character structure anymore. To much crossover with DSM and popular culture obscures understanding.

In some sense we are all trying to find ways to talk clearly. Nice vs Kind, Autistic vs Psychopathic, Affective Empathy vs Cognitive Empathy, Proactive Aggression vs Reactive Aggression, Intelligent vs Eloquence, Grandiosity vs Resentfulness.

I think "psychopoathic tendencies" are part of the archetype, the grandiose "jock" type but not the vulnerable overt type, which is more the "endurer" type within characterology. Spiteful and callous, yet Machiavellian (e.g. blackmailing and smear campaigns)... but not exhibiting leadership skills and "exploitative entitlement" (e.g. claiming credits for self-promotion). https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0092656617301095

Would this pattern make sense as a continuum for bullies vs cry-bullies? https://doi.org/10.1108/17596591111132918

This is useful Dev, I've had a very piecemeal understanding of Reich and this gives a great overview. Looking forward to the updates on types. Mark (Dreaming Schizoid Leaver)
