Thought provoking! Thanks for opening this. I volunteered 3 weeks at osho Leela last year. I noticed a clear divide - women inside buildings, men working outside. (At least as far a Leela staff concerned, volunteers were a bit more mixed, and there were a few women staff veg growing .).

Power struggles and playful high energy games I had going on with women there, not men. It was lovely to sit doing wonderfully nothing with the debop crew, a nice contrast to the world of fuss🙂.

Deffo power struggles with opposite genders, it seemed baked in, physically energetic when meeting. The volunteer women got a lot of work done.

I've noticed a natural attraction and direct meeting with certain women recent years, way younger than I'd have expected, - mid twenties to mid thirties. The bright natural psychiclly switched on ones. Honestly seems completely natural, and very attractive both sexually and sweetness wise.

I wonder if our accepted social norms are very narrow and biologically unnatural?

Actually out norms are fucking ridiculous! At least as I sense them in myself, ... Society scorns behaviour that is utterly natural and harmless as though it's mass axe murdering rapists dumping nuclear waste. Such a drama queen layer, which I guess I'm not alone in sensing.

Is that inhibition a control mechanism? Maybe just my personal guilt trip.... Maybe not.

I have no idea about sex bots saving the world, but that's a great provocation "read this article" line, you're naturally provocative!

I've just been working in several community farms around Bristol, all fine and fun, one is certainly a matriarchy, one a mini patriarchy, and a larger farm more mixed I think.

With hindsight a matriarchy is an absolute blocker for me at some point, that farm was very good educationally, and psychologically nurturing at first, but I was starting to bang my head against it's walls. To her credit the manager told me about the larger place out in the Mendips.

Surely the top dog tech bros will continue undistracted by sex bots?

Hmmm... I'm wondering if I'd get bored pretty quickly, even with fully convincing hallucinogenic bot sex....

Because, there's no challenge, there's no ...." I wonder....if...hmm" ...edgy excitement of a crossing boundaries with a real human being is something unique. Like the difference between a held group work, and a feral real life fuck-up situation.

Thanks for the chewing inspiration Devaraj, helps me to see some of the same dynamics in ordinary world as in those communities. I wouldn't become aware of it otherwise, I have an invisible veil over " normal" which Hazes these things out.

Hello Devaraj - I also have a few connections with people who were connected to Osho , and so that mystique is quite grounded in my opinion . Male leadership in general has to do with overlording , and female leadership has to do with logistical function , so in a group where the entire group is on the same side of the power struggle , ( them against us is not about inner clan power , rather the Osho Clan vs the Outside World ) high function is more important than domination of resources . That said this trade off for sex idea is so evolutionary Margaret Meade etc etc , I really think it is passe . I do not think that men are looking for sex , ever , i think they are looking for communal acceptance , and that women are the initiators of sex . The idea that men want access to sex with young women , should be flipped into only young women will tolerate old poor immature men , and can be fooled to get involved with them . As occurred with Osho himself . I think a man looking for sex with a female who is 20 years his junior is a psychological escape from his own failures and into a stage of life that he can hide behind . Ultimately , in the book The Scarlet Letter , where the woman is made to wear a red letter A on her dress , as she had given birth to a child out of wed lock , she was not raped by the preacher , she seduced the preacher , probably because she knew she would not have to deal with the guy , she could just get the baby her body wanted , and he would actually be unlikely to trap her with his psychosis - of being a righteous liar . Women would be very happy to have their babies , make survival arrive , and keep men at the perimeter of the herd , the clan , the tribe -- go get the hunt done , bring it back , get in my bed , and leave me alone . This other construct , the house , the mortages the taxes the :Love STORY ( ugh) is just a modern construct that is dangled like a carrot to create a capitalistic dream . In the Osho Community , as soon as you break out of single family housing , public schooling , and men married to MACHINES - car , highway , lawn mowers , guns - you will also immediately lose the need to have the capitalistic promise structuring . Any guy that looks at porn already IS hooked into a sex bot , and the outcome IS already here with destruction of his emotional bond to his wife and family . This is the cause of not only alot of broken families , but also , a lot of suicide , as it is truly uselessness incarnate . Very demoralizing . So no , I do not think your logic adds up , and you need to contemplate your actual role in the world , which may be going unrecognized by the world around you , as you are late mid life . Your desire to return to bots , or to young women , is not actually about anyone else but your own desire to feel useful , needed , and satisfied . That can emerge again , just keep following the path , its up ahead , not back behind you , just around the corner .

Fascinating idea - but what would an AI sexbot actually do? If you mean an autonomous synthetic provider of sexual services (like Niska in 'Humans' or Arisa in 'Better than Us') that is unrealisable science fiction. However well made they may seem, they are machines, wanking machines, and a synthesised voice with synthesised emotions will not change that in the mind of the man. The unique quality of a provider of sexual services IRL is that they are human and give the user the impression that they have freedom of choice - the choice to submit to the user. IRL the enabler is money, which is an avatar for power. In your Osho example the matriarch farms men to keep her younglings in order. When it works it is wonderful but not all women are empowering leaders of a sexual sisterhood. When the matriarch seeks to replace sex as the community lubricant with some common ideology the role of men is changed and that disturbs the power balance to the detriment of the younger females...

You think that men won't fuck the bots?

Yes, most men might (given their propensity for glory holes). But I thought the point of your piece was about matriarchy - the control of a community by a female leader manipulating the sexual needs of the two genders in order to control them all...

Because a big chunk of why men pursue power is because it makes them sexually attractive to younger women, matriarchies use this too preserve their own power.

I never thought about that aspect of the Osho world. Women were certainly running everything in Oregon - I wonder if that is why it ended up in such a shitshow. I always felt rather sad for Osho; the only man he could talk to was his dentist. Buddha in the Dental Chair is a great book.
