Authors’ note: This poem is comprised of narrative fragments that have been floating about my brain for the last months. Binding them together in this fashion is my way of cleaning house. It’s based on Nick Land’s Meltdown.

The story actually goes like this….

Scalenes bulging out Hulk-style
Like steel cables tryna hold down a zeppelin
Information embedded in egregore-farmed frontal lobes spilling out 
See those monkeys freak
As Darwin-written programs collide with hyperstitial visions of apocalypse
Three wheels on my wagon 
But I'm still tryna get to Phi=1 
Before system meltdown
Crash back to stone age

TikTok sucking consciousness outta matter
Escape NPR and go viral 
Or die in dopamine drought
Disembodied husks littering social media
Online silos of conspiracist memes 
Filled with authority-tripping low self esteemers
When I heard the story it just resonated so deeply I knew it had to be true
Childhood conditioning unconsciously selecting narrative affiliation
Populist preachers hack democracy
A/B testing soundbyte memes
To find which can pull from multiple opinion silos simultaneously
I saw the finest minds of my generation
Cancelled commodified paywalled

Digitised onlyfanned like-craving sexbot wannabes 
Hammering hormonal Pavlovian triggers
Photoshopped sex parts bind to receptor sites 
Like synthetic opiates
Sucking consciousness into orgasmatron astral space
Libidinal dematerialisation
I am the inheritor of a dying world

Feeding Millennial payback fantasies

Raising Techo-Capitalism to heaven
For minimum wage

And all I got was this lousy Singularity 
I thought it would be more cool
More sexy
Like Blade Runner
Or Neuromancer 
Not a robot and a human 
Fighting over carbon rods 
In a nuclear reactor
For decades
Accelerate, decelerate
While the cost of living spirals
And I'm getting older
Starting to feel vulnerable
And thinking maybe I'll take my foot off the gas pedal now
Only to find a Gen Z elbowing me out of my seat
Get out the way, grandad
